News from CSIO Piazza di Siena, Rome - Italy
The traditional Puissance competition will be replaced by the Six Bars
From May 21th to 24th will be held the traditional CSIO Piazza di Siena in Rome, Italy. "We are working to ensure the presence of the best riders, as World reigning and Olympic champion in Sydney Jeroem Dubbeldam and FEI World Cup and Olympic reigning champion Steve Guerdat," said the new elected president of the FISE Vittorio Orlandi in the press conference in Rome last Friday. The big news of 2015’s edition is the elimination of the traditional Puissance competition that will be replaced by Six Bars competition. “Today there are few pairs specialists in Puissance and the lack of planning also affects the training of horses and put at risk their safety. The Six Bars instead is a very technical test, suitable for a horse with style and technique” Vittorio Orlandi concludes. Also Michel Robert, a true icon in the world of international show jumping and a great protagonist of the Roman competition (winner of the Grand Prix Rome in 1985 and various editions of the Nations Cup) confirms: "A very good decision because with the evolution of our sport the Puissance is out of time, suited to the type of horses and competitions of many years ago. Besides, a horse that makes the Six Bars can make even a Grand Prix while one that does the Puissance could not make it."
