Born in Hoogeveen, Holland, Marc is a top rider of the Dutch team. Marc Houtzager began to ride when he was ten. The passion for horses came quickly. After graduating, Marc decided to deepen his knowledge of horsemanship and moved for seven years in the stable of the trainer Jan Broek, later he worked two years with Roelof Bril, a year with Johan Heins and a year with Willy van der Ham , one of the best trainers in the equestrian world. Since 1997 Marc has established in his stable in the resort of Holtrustweg, Rouveen, Holland. He manages his stable, the Stal Houtzager-Kayser, from 2000 with his wife Julia Kaiser. In 2012 the stable has been completely renovated and now it’s one of the most modern and equipped in Holland. Marc Houtzager had participated at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with Opium and London 2012 where he got the team silver medal with Tamino. He took part at the World Championships in Lexington 2010 with Tamino and the European Championships in Windsor riding Opium. Tamino and Opium are the horses that brought him at the top of international competitions, where he is now thanks to the excellent results obtained in the most important CSI and CSIO.
