On a bustling Saturday in the international jumping scene, Álvaro González De Zarate emerged victorious in the CSI4* 1m50 main class of the Concurso Hípico Internacional in Gijón, Spain. The event, part of the Longines Ranking series, saw González De Zarate shine in front of a supportive home crowd.
Riding the 9-year-old Casa Diva PS (Casallco), González De Zarate delivered a flawless performance that secured his top spot. His time was just half a second faster than the second-place finisher, Harry Allen from Ireland, who rode Lukaku vd Bisschop (Plot Blue, F: Tom de Craene). Both González De Zarate and Allen were the only two riders to complete the course without faults.
Local rider Pello Elorduy Ibarzabal took third place aboard Champenoise de Rampan (Voltigeur de Rampan), showcasing a strong performance. Laura Renwick from Great Britain followed in fourth place with Komos A, a 9-year-old stallion sired by Arezzo VDL. Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida, also from Spain, rounded out the top five with d’Amerique van de Vlasrede Z (Diamant de Semilly).
