He is already a legend in eventing dicipline. He is one of the most successful event riders of recent times: German Michael Jung has won almost every major horse trials title going. ‘Michi’ was born on July 31th in Baden Soden am Taunus, Germany. In September the Jung family went in Horb-Altheim in the new equestrian center where Michael grew up with his brother Philip. After initially playful, daily contact with the horses, did not wait long for the first sporting successes. The main base for its current success was undoubtedly a very solid training in dressage, jumping and eventing, on which his father Joachim Jung always attaches great importance.
The beginning of his successful career in eventing was the participation in the Federal junior Championships in Warendorf with Davai.
After high-school diploma, he was involved in equestrian family business, and he developed his equestrian technique and training. In 2010 he passed the exam for Pferdewirtschaftsmeister with distinction. In 2003 he obtained the title European Champion Eventing Young Riders. While he was becoming an eventing champion, Michael has reached several victories and placements in both jumping and dressage competitions.

2005 was the year of the great turning point: La Biosthetique Sam FBW came in the Jung stable. With this unbeatable bay horse, Michael was able to celebrate his biggest successes. Third place at the European Championships in 2009 in Fontainebleau, as well as the overall World Cup victory and gold in the Luhmühlen 4*in the same year.
This was followed by the gold medal at the World Championships 2010 in Kentucky, the European Championship title, both in individual as well as with the team in 2011 and of course individual and team gold at the 2012 Olympics in London.
So, in 2012 Michael became the first eventer to hold Olympic, European and World titles at the same time. All three titles were won on the same horse, La Biothesque Sam with whom Michael won Luhmühlen in 2009 with and Burghley in 2015. Sam has also been 2nd at Badminton in 2013, 3rd at Rolex Kentucky in 2015 and 3rd at Luhmuhlen in 2015, and more he was the horse Michael rode to win the individual European title on in 2012.

Since then Michael has won team and individual gold at the 2013 Europeans in Malmoe, team gold and individual silver at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen and team and individual gold at the 2015 Europeans in Blair Castle. In 2015 Michael became only the second person (after Ginny Leng) to win three consecutive European Individual titles on three different horses. His wins were on: La Biosthetique Sam FBW (2011), Halunke FBW (2013) and FischerTakinou (2015).When Jung fell early on in the cross-country course at Burghley 2015 on his first ride FischerRocana FST, he kept the fact that he had broken his ankle to himself and went on to win not only Burghley on Sam but also the European Championships a week later before he went to hospital to receive treatment for the injury. Michael also competes internationally in both dressage and showjumping in order to improve his technical ability, his experience and knowledge. In his farm, the Reitschule Jung in Horb am Neckar, he works with his father Joachin. He dedicates to young horses of three disciplines, eventing, dressage, jumping, from three years old and older: “I like to ride, to train with the young horses. That's the reason I'm a rider, not just to win everything and stop riding”. He is a really complete rider, the champion of twentieth century.
