He is one of the greatest champions of all the time. Charismatic and loved by the public, when he enters the arena everybody accompanies him with loud applause. His medal collection is really impressive. Sloothaak took part at four Olympic Games, winning two gold medals in teams, with Walzerkoenig, Seoul 1988 and with Jolie Coer, Atlanta 1996. Team bronze, Los Angeles 1984 with Farmer. World Champion at the 1994 WEG San Patrignano with San Patrignano Weihaiwej and bronze at the WEG in Rome 1998 with Jolie Coeur. Fifteen Finals of the World Cup where he scored two third places (Dortmund 1990 - Walzerkoenig and Gothenburg in 1997 - Jolie Coeur) and a second ('sHertogenbosch 1994 - San Patrignano Dorina). Five editions of the European Championships with a team silver in La Baule 1991 - Walzerkoenig. To all of this we can add an infinite amount of victories in Grand Prix and major Nations Cups CSIO. Sloothaak is well known also for the training of young horses.
